{{Question |QuestionFaqPage=Log - October 2025/Event FAQ |Link=https://enochlesis.dreamwidth.org/19927.html?thread=5447639#cmt5447639 |Topics= |AskedBy=hanikamu |DateAsked=2025-10-06 |QuestionText=Can player characters in dreams appear differently from how they usually would in real life? I was thinking about making mine specifically look like he was from a different canon point. On that note, are player characters capable of manipulating anything in the dreamscape? (e.g. conjuring writing materials out of nowhere, defying physics, etc.) If so, by how much?

Also I know it's implied, but are the spider lilies from the last log still there in the tunnels? Will anything else have changed about them or anything else in the tunnels since our last visit? |DateAnswered=2025-10-06 |AnswerText=There is some amount of 'freedom' in regards to personal appearance or powers within the dreamscape. The controlling force behind it is stifling too much disruption- but they're also not in proper command of it either. This is an untested power; the fact that the whole of Karteria fell asleep for days in itself suggests that their command of it isn't perfected.

So there is some room for change, and a character could appear different from their state in reality, if players choose. Not to the extent of becoming a different person, and the condition would be poorly controllable- as the character would keep drifting 'back' to some set self. Whether that's their original shape, their corrupted state as an Augmented, or some combination- it's all possible. So someone could appear as they do from a different canon point!

Creating objects out of nothing is also possible, but they are very prone to disappearing (or changing into something else) as soon as they're not being paid direct attention to. Physics are also very malleable, especially if the characters don't think about what they're doing too closely. (More rational types might have a harder time here.)

Drastically altering the world itself would fail, resisting that level of fundamental tampering. It also wouldn't be possible to free the caged captives- nor to join them. Elements like these are fixed, obeying a logic that can't be overwritten.

The spider lilies in the tunnels are still there! It could be that patches of them have been 'muted', along with some of the other plants. It's not enough to make exploring down there safe, but it's a margin easier. Should that muted state ever be removed (a likely thing, if Patho-Gen is pushed out of the underground entirely), the danger will return to its full force, unless the plants are killed. }}
