sliding into this thread on my knees

Similar to the observations on mutations in a), Fel also agreed to bring back samples of dirt and possibly bone pieces from [https://enochlesis.dreamwidth.org/898.html?thread=953730#cmt953730 Route 4], the abandoned cabins. Palamedes specifically wants to do psychometry on these, so if he tries, will he get anything noteworthy? Things like strong emotions, a sense of how peaceful or not the deaths were, if there's any lingering Bad Vibes that have permeated from the dead into the literal ground, etc.

Also same question, but for the mutation samples... Would he get a sense of where that ever-changing characteristic came from, like if it's recent or since birth, etc? And if he dipped a little necromantic encouragement into the dead cells, would anything happen, like the changes speeding up? Is there Something There besides a dead animal that he could necromancy-sense or necromancy-poke? For canonical reference, necromancy can be used to encourage cell growth at higher speeds. Like healing! Except these are dead.

AnswerText:
For those bones and dirt... the strongest emotions there are a sense of grief and fear. Their deaths were not violent, but they were fraught, pained. They knew the end was coming, and did their best to prepare for it, one after another- loneliness would be the most recent of the emotions to permeate the mass grave. Something was terribly alone at the end, surrounded by the decaying remains of others.

For the fresh samples, assuming Pal's getting his hands on some fleshy animal or non-fleshy plant.... That changing capacity has been there from birth, so the underlying source has been around for some time. To prod them with necromancy: the growths will speed up. It will work, the energy at play feasting on Palamedes' encouragement. They might speed up catastrophically, erupting past the casings of skin, bones tearing free of the corpse, splitting open to reveal marrow made of fur. Organs may re-wrap themselves around the skeleton, pinned on there by ragged sinews and strings of crushed eyes, and the whole thing may start twitching. It is very clearly not alive, and it's not going to get any far on this broken wreck of split bone and repurposed meat, but it will attempt its facade of life for a short time after.

This is also likely to rebound somewhat on Palamedes, triggering splitting headaches and the horror-sense that comes with touching Katalyth.
