Mods, I am so sorry to come in here with more questions. Know it is because I am a huge nerd and love this setting.

What does medicine look like in the city? Is it mostly your average pills and over the counter stuff, is there anything that's injectable (or is that limited to Patho-Gen expertise, if anything)? I did see previous comments about mental health treatment and medicine of the herbal variety (recreational and non) but wanted to check. Full disclosure: it came up in a thread about getting someone pain relievers and I figured I should double check.

Questions are always welcomed, no worries! And official, legal medicine is along those lines, yes- over the counter pills and ointments of mild-but-tested-and-reliable functionality. Anything that requires injected, or otherwise hits harder would also probably require a prescription- something that the Augmented should be able to get through Patho-Gen, should their health warrant it (they want you all to stay healthy!).

There are also unlicensed or 'alternative' medicine options available throughout the city. The richer or bougie districts have their health food shops, and their herbal remedies or 'superfoods'. They generally have low-to-null efficacy, but are also largely harmless. (And much like general grocers, are also facing shortages. Even the richer districts are noticing the issues with supply.) There's also the shady options available in the poorer areas, should one want to avoid going through Patho-Gen for a prescription. A number of the medicines here are likely to work, on par with anything you could get with a prescription, but they're also likely to be more expensive (as anyone doing this probably has their reasons for avoiding the official channels). There's also the grab bag of cheap and unreliable/unknown efficacy choices for the desperate.

Short version: basic pills in pharmacies/apothecaries yes, injectables require prescriptions (which can be obtained, for characters willing to get them). Otherwise it's a choice of alternatives.
