Hello! I wanted to ask about the range of fiction books available, mostly the important question: are there smutty romance books?

And if Northly wanted to write a smutty romance book or two, what's the publishing process like? Corollary to that, are there typewriters/keyboard attachments for syntrofos? Northly will probably stick to dictation for the most part but writing on something other than a tiny syntrofos would be good.

When it comes to non-explicit romance novels, there's plenty. It's a popular, if not highly regarded genre- as those kind of things tend to be. The Valentia library has a fair selection of this kind of entertainment, and the other district libraries carry at least the more historically popular, long-running series.

Anything that veers into actual smut, with depictions of sex rather than heavy-handed allusions and fade-to-black... it's not hard to come by, but it's also not out in the open. It absolutely exists, people are people, but it's more restricted when it comes to being advertised or available. The options available in public libraries veer as much as possible to the classy, with some pretension of the sex being there for artistic purposes. (As a side note, sex is held in a similar category as depictions of violence, abuse, etc.; the latter are similarly restricted. Karterians are prudish, but they're also not keen on murder!)

Karteria's version of sex shops (which do exist, carrying other basics such as lube and condoms, as they stoically recognize biological impulses and then do their best to keep them out of sight) actually has a literature section.... This is where most of the 'non-literary' smut ends up. And even then, there's more attempt at a plot than you might expect, and it still might come across as rather quaint, inoffensive and polite.

Self-publishing exists, with the variability of quality as you might expect, but that's where the most graphic (by Karterian standards) or niche topics would be found. That would probably be the easiest way for Northly to get 'published', as the traditional avenues are both skeptical of smut, and very skeptical of Augmented ideas of it. That's not to say an audience isn't there, and if she does self-publish, she may well gain some modest following for her efforts.

There are keyboard attachments for the Syntrofos! They're like the ones that can attach to mobile phones or tablets today. Even though Karterians use their Syntrofos for light conversation, social media, memes, etc., enough people just prefer a good tactile keyboard that there's a market for them.
