Hello mods! I know you elaborated earlier in the comments that Glire/Ruminantia shapeshifting for sure covers animals and other people (provided they know what they're doing, etc), but what about non-animate objects and plants?

Does the shapeshifting hit a hard limit when trying to be something that isn't alive or too alien (meaning plants and stuff like them), or is that also a matter of understanding how they work to change into them?

cw: body horror mention!

Objects and plants are allowed as a shapeshift destination. But we encourage plenty of mishaps, given that an organic, living humanoid is trying to turn into an aluminum trash can. (Likewise, aluminum trash cans out there? We encourage mishaps shapeshifting into an organic living body.) You can go for some body horror and justify it as "my character forgot that they need to concentrate on the hollow composition of a trash can and accidentally kept their lungs and breathe via spiracle oops", or "my character thought about the shape of the garbage can but ended up not thinking ahead enough about the matter that composes a trash can, and now they're a flesh can."

Of course, the Glire/Ruminantia can also get lucky and nail the shapeshift. But the further away from their natural form the shapeshift, the more difficult they should be for an unpracticed Glire/Ruminantia to uphold. Turning into a Rubik's Cube is a lot of work! It might be something they have to concentrate very hard on maintaining, and it may slip at the slightest provocation. We encourage playing with it and having fun, though.

As stated on Glire/Ruminantia's pages respectively, objects cannot exceed the size of a car. Similarly, the powers or properties the destination shapeshift has may not be functional. If a Glire-type tried to transform into a teleporter, for example, they would be a defunct one since they cannot connect to the web of teleporters established.
