I know food can't be taken out of Kelesis; does the same apply to items? Brochures, menus, etc., but also small furnishing items (anything small enough to fit in a rucksack, so lights, small art works, soft furnishings, etc.)?

I think this is briefly covered here, with the relevant part being:

Anything else purchased in Kelesis persists and may be carried outside the city without an issue. (Although when it comes to electronic goods, Kelesis doesn't sell much. Those sorts of technological advancements have never been their focus! And anything that is bought will immediately stop working outside the border (and resume working within Kelesis).)

So yes, a modest amount of other physical objects may be carted out of Kelesis.
