Does it mean the caster must be in danger for Furies' Sight to work or can the spirits be called to defend someone else? Like if Mel saw a friend was getting their ass whooped, could she feasibly summon them for that purpose in case she, personally, isn't getting beaten up?

It's more likely to work should the caster be the one in direct trouble. But as Furies' Sight is inherently a bit luck-based where the 'luck' is determined by whatever the player would find more interesting... it could work out just fine.

(And it really wouldn't be stretching the reasonability of the request, either. Even if there's always technically a chance for failure, it's most likely to go sideways if an Aves decided to poke the dead as a party trick, or something similarly trivial. Protecting someone else isn't trivial!)
