Hi again! Rinne likes betting on horse races, so is there anything like that anywhere in the game's universe? On that note, I've been assuming that setting- and period-appropriate games (especially of the gambling kind) are available in Karteria, but is there anything else of note? Any specific sports, dice games, board games, card games, video games, apps, etc. that are popular with certain social classes? Not that Rinne can play the apps right now... Also, do they have Asian games like mahjong? |
There is no horse racing, alas, though there is a mechanical version, if Rinne requires some horse-shaped entertainment. But in general, any real world luck/chance based game might turn up in some form. It might have a different name, or different shaped pieces, but it could be assumed to be there. And that includes Asian games like mahjong. Things like shogi and chess also exist, but not really in a casino setting, or something to be gambled over. How did all these things get there...? No one really knows the history of these card/board/tile games, only that they've been around for a while. Pachinko machines, slot machines, pinball- they're present as well, in an expectedly more 'retro', and simple style. The middle classes tend to prefer these mechanical options, while the lower classes favor the card games. Overall, gambling is seen as a more low class hobby. There is also Syntrofos app-based gambling, and it's about as scammy as you might expect. |
