#1 wiki | comment Topics: Edit question: edit elanprime asked on FAQ/Main FAQ at 2025-08-02 Answer date: 2025-08-04	hi, mods. i come bearing a multi-part Clone Question™ of potential interest to other players: how does the syntrofos know it's in the hands of its owner? i ask because elan is seconds away from attempting to fuck with four's device, and i'm wondering if said device would unlock/respond to him on account of their, you know, clonehood. i should remind that they are not genetically identical clones; four is just an extremely well-designed body double, and there are discernible visual differences between elan and his clones for those with the eyes to see them (ex., four is prettier than elan; five looks more caffeinated, etc). because of this, i'd assume that things like their fingerprints wouldn't be identical, but... who knows! something that might put a wrench in this ^ is that elan is a golem-type with a natural soul corresponding to a mineral that relates to information-sharing and -processing, and four happens to have this mineral in his own body thanks to human rights violations. (if this detail makes things too complicated, that said, feel free to ignore it for the purposes of answering this question...) thanks in advance! 🫶 (edit: i'm fool, it might be four who's about to fuck with elan's phone) Edited 2025-08-02 08:43 pm (local) ... i'm sorry i'm already back with more syntrofos questions: how far back in the network can a newbie scroll, and is the augmented network searchable? in other words, is a new augmented only able to access those posts that have been made from the date of their arrival onwards, or can they backread to the start of the game (and in so doing discover that this is when patho-gen's augmented program began, for example)? thanks again in advance 🙏	Elan, this is not a responsible use of Elan-specific-powers.... But they are (un?)fortunately thwarted in this case, as the Syntrofos assigned each character connects with their Augmenter in order to establish identity. In this fashion, the Elans are all complete individuals, and would not be able to automatically unlock the Syntrofos of any other Elan. (NPC-owned-Syntrofos are unlocked by fingerprint/facial ID/passcode, like one would with a RL phone. The Augmented got special versions, as Patho-Gen anticipated a future where characters would lose their fingers (or not have any to start with), and whose appearance might change drastically enough to make camera-based recognition fail. They also assumed a general inability to remember passcodes.) For network scrolling: New characters have access to the whole network history. For convenience's sake, it functions a bit like a dreamwidth-esque forum, so there's be no problem in scrolling back to the start. Nothing is auto-deleted.
