Hello dear mods!

Some questions regarding Law and his initiative to establish an Augmented-run clinic + pharmacy with a doctor's office and an operation room and some space for patients to recover in, plus an extra space for the pharmacy!

1. He can rent a space for this, of course, but if he were to reach out to some of the doctors whose eyes he implanted after the Blinding Incident and asked to buy some essential equipment for his clinic, would they sell some to him? Or would he be able to find some locals somewhere who would supply him with the necessary equipment if he pays for it, of course?

2. He has reached out to some other Augmented about using the plants/herbs they are growing, but how about medicinal plants or other substances found in Karteria? What would he be able to find, either growing out in the wild or buying from locals?

3. Konoha has offered a plot of land at the farm to grow medicinal plants in. What would his collaborators be able to grow there? (This probably relates to question 2, since it would likely be the plants found native in and outside Karteria and Kelesis.) If there are those Augmented who have seeds from home, would those grow here?

4. Once they've set up the clinic, he is looking to offer pay-what-you-can services to the locals in the poorer districts. Would the locals actually use their services? They will have 2-3 doctors, 1 surgeon and at least 2 people at the pharmacy.

5. And finally, would Patho-Gen want him to keep working out of his Patho-Gen wellness center clinic alongside his other practise, or would they be fine with him just ditching them entirely?
  1. It's because Law has curried favor with doctors that they're willing to sell some equipment to Law, yes. This, and they'll point him in the direction of some more generic but available supplies. Generic supplies available to all Augmented include things for wound care (such as what might be found here, or in a typical modern grocery/pharmacy), a few mobility aids/braces/splints, some very basic low-dose pain killers, and hygienic supplies (masks, gloves, cleaning solutions, etc). In a totally different store, characters would be able to find some rudimentary lab supplies, like glassware/plasticware, petri dishes, syringes, beakers... things that could be Medical or Sciencey).

What doctors can specially provide Law would include a lot more of the other products seen here, such as needles, solutions, surgical equipment... Lots of things! The reason these products are often difficult to obtain is to reduce risk of them getting in the wrong hands, but also because they're being reserved for Science & Medicine and these are worthy pursuits. They're very strict on ensuring that these products are going to be used, not simply stockpiled.

Goods available to the general public are pricier, so getting things from his fellow Doctor Supplies will be a bit cheaper, but still expensive. Still, these doctors appreciate his work and are offering to help him get these products without trying to make any profit off of Law whatsoever, but they are sure to do all of this above-board. Most doctors do not want to get in trouble, and Patho-Gen is alright with this arrangement. (This just means there will generally be a record of things Law has ever purchased... though if he ever wishes to try to obtain something without a paper trail, please feel free to have him have found a doctor willing to do things below the table!)

  2. There are medicinal plants! Lots of flora and fauna are based off of the Pacific Northwest. This is a PDF of a small array of PNW flora and its historical use in medicine. (The S'Klallam Tribe also has a real nice but succinct reference of general flora and its medicinal or edible uses!)

  3. Some cultivars can be grown on farmland. You're free to get creative with this, but many PNW plants prefer to grow sheltered by forests and generally don't do well as crops. Thus, plants found out in the wilderness = plants that won't do so hot in a farm plot. However, other plants that aren't found so easily in the wilderness can be planted here! Stuff like what's listed here might be viable choices, weather permitting. (Climate = generally PNW, a bit chillier as technically its latitude is akin to northern BC.)

Neither of us are going to get super particular about this. (I already get cross-eyed about plants. Doing my best.) Things people like to grow medicinally in their gardens at home would work in these settings, and we're willing to say that characters can shake down citizens in Karteria/Kelesis for such crops so they can get starts. Be free, peppermint plants... Overtake the lands......

  4. How much locals will be willing to use their services depends entirely on Reputation. As of writing this, lower class citizens believe the Augmented truly have their best interests in mind; many impoverished citizens, too, will hesitantly accept their services, but some will believe the Augmented to be too volatile to trust. As Reputation changes, so too will business!

  5. Patho-Gen would prefer to keep tabs on law, so they would generally prefer that he operate somewhere they can oversee his work.

Private practices in Karteria are often very specialty and contingent on the possession of wealth... And as the leader in medicine, they hope to keep vigil over what he does. Besides, Law's work is fascinating!

If Patho-Gen finds reason to trust Augmented Ones in general, they may be more willing to let him be free. For now, they are not keen on the idea. Most all doctors work through Patho-Gen, and so long as he works closely with Patho-Gen, their doctors will attempt to keep him supplied as well. (He can totally work in a separate space, but they expect some protocol to be upheld! Reports! Karteria LOVES bureaucracy and paperwork!!!)
