While it might technically be possible, especially with smaller pieces, or ones with less of a good 'grasp' on whatever surface they're growing from- it's not easy. It's almost as bad as going up to it and just touching it. The mental stress would be considerable, and probably more of a deterrent than the whole 'being affixed to the ground' deal. Mental powers on a material that in itself creates significant mental strain just by being in its vicinity... it's not a great combination. He is, of course, welcome to try and have an awful time of it.
