OH NO SQUID FRIEND :((((

well!! with all of that in mind, Eleanor will personally do her best to try and answer its questions in a non-verbal way, since she can just transmit imagery back in a similar way that she and Set will get a glimpse of Karteria. She'll share an image of herself and Set to help identify them, followed by one of Eleanor gently placing a hand on a (notably calm) tentacle, or even holding one of the hands of the suckers. She, uh, has a pretty deep empathy for being isolated and touch-starved, actually, and that comes through too.

I will say that's probably about all she can manage before the side-effects of its excitement get to her! She's going to be nursing those symptoms for a bit, but you know what, it's fine,,, they're just a little guy who wants friends :((

So! On that note! Assuming squid friend doesn't get killed and after Eleanor has had some time to recover, she'll definitely try again! Hopefully most of the other characters will have moved on, but she'll especially be doing her best to try and express calm to it—That is, the idea that she can stay and "talk" with it, but please be careful to not blow out her mind again, friend 😭 (but she'll also understand if that's easier said than done). She's not necessarily looking for information this time, but just trying to be a comfort! Maybe asking if there's a way they can help, but she's, uh, kind of guessing not.

And for the lakes, thank you for the clarification!
Looking out for the poor squid....

It's unintentionally loud, and poor at controlling its own emotions when provided a foothold (or mind-hold, or tentacle-hold), but it is still intelligent. It will notice the difference in relative 'volume' of thought, and that Eleanor came away from the experience in pain. In future conversations (especially if there's more than one), it will attempt to modulate its thoughts somewhat... hold back some of that desperation for company. It wants friends more than it wants food, so it's trying not to hurt her. :c But it will take some practice.

Depending on how other people interact with it (whether they're neutral elements just trying to get by, whether they're also trying to communicate in some way- or whether they're trying to cut off those tentacles), this could lead to some sort of solution to how the squid is managed. With her persistence in conversing with it, it could learn what the Augmented look and 'feel' like, and will let them pass unimpeded. It might, like, put some tentacles up on the bridge, see if anyone wants to hang out... but it'll stop knocking people around or psychically attacking them. Any other characters trying their best to talk to it also helps! It's forgotten how to socialize....

If enough other characters are aggressive towards it but don't kill it, it will probably remain selective with who it tolerates, and hostile and skittish towards any unknowns, leaving the middle of the bridge still difficult to cross. Once teleportation is arranged on the Kelesian side, it's less of a practical issue for those just trying to get across... but exploring the bridge will remain a hazard.

(Of course, if enough people decide it's too dangerous to live, that's the other outcome...)
