Harry’s going to be vibing in the ruins, at the graveyard, trying to pick up some of the stories of the people who lived and left Aparallaxia with his psychic nonesense. And tell them to passerby whether they want to hear him or not. Might be an odd question but, do the mods have any stories in particular they’d like to be told here? Also, I’ve been wondering in general about genius loci, does this world have such a thing? And if so would it be willing to talk to an outsider? (I’m not even sure Harry himself would be ready to make that kind of connection yet but he is trying to become more intimate with this world and it's cultures.) |
Ahh apologies for the delay on this, the stories bit is taking a hot multiple seconds, but wanted to get this part out at least... For the genius loci, there isn't something quite like that. Not exactly... or not yet. Katalyth is very good at growing, at appearing. In addition to being miserable to be around, if looked closely at (really closely at, like under a microscope), it possesses a structure like nothing in nature. To be around it causes mutations, and Katalyth itself mutates... adapting to something without thought behind it, grasping at everything it can and changing it. It's endless, ceaseless, tireless, without focus or meaning- but within all of that, could it not ultimately hit upon something that can think back? So if there is a genius loci, it's a newborn. It is fragile as a thread, it is constantly being drowned out, suffocated and remade. But it may be piecing together something consciousness-shaped. It would be a difficult thing to talk to, as anything Harry might hit upon might not be 'alive' days later- or he could end up listening in to another part of its body, another facet that's also learning and dying, fumbling for meaning within the morass of terror and grief and growth that it's made out of. |
