Answer date: 2025-10-07

if they can get next to the cage, could they potentially touch one of those tail feathers? (to put it in her inventory... if her inventory is functional. despite her assertion that it's not magic, it absolutely runs on magic, just magic of the type her church didn't want to acknowledge.)

and if her inventory is shut down by the "no powers" thing, does that make the items in it pop out? remain stuck in?

also, is there any information about what peacock's name was before she was peacock (not her deadname if she has one, just pre-augmented name, unless that's a ""fun"" coincidence)

Unfortunately, should a character draw too close, they will fall asleep. It's not possible to get near enough to reach in and take one of her feathers.

Additionally, Northly's inventory wouldn't be available to her outside of the specific rooms where powers are deliberately allowed to be somewhat expressed. Peacock's cage is not one of those areas. While nullified, her inventory would remain 'sealed' rather than spill everywhere, inaccessible to everyone. Patho-Gen wouldn't be able to dig around in it either, unless her powers were returned.

The peacock herself will not be able to respond should anyone ask for her name, or any other detail. She only seems capable of singing, and without language. Back in Karteria... historical records of Peacock never supply or suggest that she had any other name. It would be an odd choice (and odder coincidence) for it to be her only name, but nothing else comes up.

Of course, references to her in archived papers or magazines don't describe her much as a person at all- only a figurehead, an ideal. Someone tragic and inspirational; everyone loves Peacock. If she had an identity before becoming an Augmented, it's been buried or rewritten. No one alive seems to know her as anything else.
