Calling appears to be a power that is innately Karterian, but characters who are versed in magic can likely learn some version of it. Yes! However, Calling magic strictly seems to work on animals of a non-primate persuasion, as well as plants and other natural phenomena. Suggesting that Calling be used on humans would cause Karterians to balk. (Cool double standard there, guys.)
