(this is probably not something tighnari would do himself, but... someone taking the idea far enough might get him on board as "well, at this point why not")	It might be possible, but if someone is taking a part of the plant that's still alive and capable of growing, it's not a good idea. Wherever it's taken, it will continue to grow- and especially so outside, in the daylight. It would be moving the base problem and making sure it spreads even further. (Of course, you can do this, it will just... extend the length and danger of this particular plot.) It's also not effectively possible to keep it permanently catatonic, since as soon as there's a pause in putting it to sleep/otherwise calming it, it will return to violence and will grow that much faster. It will also be hateful and in pain the whole time.
