Hello mods, this game looks super well thought out and I'm excited for the TDM! I've got a couple of questions lined up: -I didn't spot this one in the setting info so apologies if I managed to miss something, but what's the current state of the city's entertainment industry (however much of it is surviving the apocalypse), and how accessible would it be to a sufficiently determined/experienced character? Thinking primarily along the lines of radio, early TV, stage performance, music. -With regards to written history sections (since Momo's canon's wiki doesn't really have history), would those have a similar 1000-word cap/recommended max length as what's noted for the the CRAU history sections? -Is there a local equivalent to emoji or kaomoji on the Syntrofos or is it good old simple :) content where that's concerned? (this is a very silly question i know) |
We're glad to hear it! c: And entertainment in the city is alive and- if not well, the population sure does need its distractions. Radio exists, though there's a limited number of populated channels. There's is a popular amateur scene, though it'd be hard to say how many listen to these hobbyists apart from other hobbyists. Television has begun to supersede it, but it doesn't have anything like a stranglehold just yet- as televisions themselves remain costly (and increasingly difficult to produce), and the amount of programming remains limited (Some news, televised skits on the entertainment side of things... and the very earliest attempts at soap operas. There's not much else that's properly serialized or episodic.). Theatre certainly exists and is historically popular- and while that remains true in the present day, the cost of going to any of the larger productions is becoming increasingly out of the range of the average person. There's smaller (and largely amateur) shows as well, with correspondingly lower production values, populated by actors trying to catch their big break (and barely getting paid for their effort in the meantime). And for even smaller gigs, many a bar (and the few gambling halls) offers a stage for performance- usually vocalists, perhaps backed by a couple of instruments. Sometimes there's skits (largely comedic), or magic shows. Music preference amongst Karterians leans towards the 'classical', and also swing. Swing and jazz are both popular at the moment... other genres/styles may be a bit hit-or-miss with the locals. For a written-history section, an amount like that should certainly suffice! Something to give a proper impression of the character within their setting, the major story beats that involve them, how they've developed (or haven't), etc. It doesn't have to be massive, just covering the points that feel most relevant, and applicable to understanding where the character is coming from. Emoji-status is a serious condition... and yes, the Syntrofos come equipped in that regard! There's probably some odd local variants, but the classics (or the potential to make them) should be available. |
