So this is not very important, but are there cinemas here / what sort of films would there be if so? I know it's kinda mid-apocalyptic so even though they have technology I wasn't sure how far it goes entertainment wise, so I'm just asking real quick. Thank you!! | Wrote too much again... Movies were being made even prior to these apocalyptic conditions. They slap of some 50s/60s titles. Comedy, dramas, spy films, and science-fiction/fantasy films are popular; movies never seem to be historical in nature, but subtle politics/social commentary exists (sometimes these topics are commenting on how society is cold/closed off; other times, it might be about an increasing gap in social standing based on money). Romance is often present in any sort of film, but it's never the focus. Now restrained to the city, movies are still being made, but not as frequently. There are fewer popular fantasy titles, as cinematography can't quite reach to these fantastical spots any longer, but science-fiction continues strong. Cerebral comedy seems to be a favorite: characters who don't quite see eye-to-eye having a long, 60-90 minute miscommunication about some arbitrary topic that either ends in understanding, rivalry, or romance. Less popular films deal with darker topics, such as loss, grief, longing, or fear; psychological thrillers are often an avenue for the feelings of small-time directors. Even more bizarre are these unknown names who have a reputation for having gone mad, who make bizarre, abstract, low-budget films about the end of the world or something, all shot from inside of their bathroom. Creative: they might be historically important someday. There are a few small-time directors like these who were once considered to be rising in the movie industry as directors who haven't published any works in years. People think they've lost their marbles and went silent, if they haven't passed away. Probably arcane radiation poisoning. For the ease of being able to have characters see a movie, you're free to pick an existing movie from the 50s/60s and have there be some loose equivalent, as long as it's not a movie that relies on historical events. Hitchcock's Psycho or Edwards's The Pink Panther could have some equivalents in Karteria, for example. Movies are more popular to Karterians than running TV shows are, save for sitcoms or talk shows. Not to say that they wouldn't be receptive to a TV show—could be a good way to while away the hours! |
