A good question. An Arthropoda-type is limited to being able to detect intent/deceit mostly in person: being physically near their bodies is a requirement to detect intent/deceit. After all, it seems to be a trait evolved to help protect the Arthropoda from would-be attackers; people can't well attack over video in any meaningful way. This isn't to say that some Arthropodas can't use their new traits to have a better edge over others at detecting variances in voice, as you describe. We agree with that wholly! But it might not be as effective over the network as being physically in the presence of their deceiver. In all, the answer is: it's mostly for in-person interactions, but can sometimes extend over the network, especially if the liar they're speaking to is particularly obvious or it shows in their voice. |
