Hello hello! I was reminded about this with the mention that a chunk of the government was also blind now.

Would there have been any members OF said government, whether it's someone lower tier and/or someone who holds more positive-leaning opinions toward the Augmented, that we can assume had hired Yzak and Dearka as bodyguards? (past experience that would have been boasted here aside from being soldiers is they legit helped stop a coup of their homeland by saving their leader back home)

Any rules and restrictions that might come with said job (like idk no shifting unless needed, grooming must be good so there is little shedding, etc) would be diligently followed.

(also this is a smidge related to this q if you were still chewing on it because this could be a fun springboard for it)

Thank you!!

Hi mods! I'm politely and gently bumping this in case it slipped your radar.

But I'm linking this comment to Set's player plot about the military and the goals for said plot. Like I said in the comment, maybe my request can fold into that a bit? One of the goals is trying to secure a more positive relationship with the government, so I figure if it's cool for Yzak and Dearka to have been playing guard-dog (and guard cat) for someone, it might be a little helpful toward the schmooze (especially if the government person was one of those who went blind recently, because then they could evolve into guard dog/cat and seeing eye dog/cat after that)

This sure did get buried, we're really sorry about that, and thank you for the prod.

The government is still (and moreso, after the last month) very cautious about employing Augmented- but the very few that they have worked with (like Kaeya), or had associations with (like Set) have gone well. For characters like Yzak and Dearka, given their skill sets (and having not caused considerable trouble for the city), they might have been given a probationary employ that could have turned into more stable employment.

So yes, a belated okay to them having found someone people in the government to guard! And with good, respectable behavior behind them, they could have earned some measure of trust. They'll still be treated as lesser, as subordinate (though at least recognized as people, unlike Golem types, and are paid for their work) by most government staff (the higher up you go, the more likely this is), but not otherwise badly. And with the blinding affecting those in government just as much as the rest of the city, having these two in their service would be that much more of a boon.

(While Carnivora are one of the more feared types, it works in their favor given the type of job they're doing- as the government would expect an Augmented guard to be a bit fierce. Not too beastly of course, or untidy, or undignified... but what's the point of using an Augmented for protection if they're not a bit scary?)

And with the recent disorder caused by Patho-Gen (something that the government has decidedly mixed-feelings about), the people that Yzak and Dearka are working for might feel that much more relieved that their families are 'protected' (Well, so long as Patho-Gen doesn't kidnap half of their catdog team again! They're not happy about that.). They don't like to view Karteria as a dangerous place, but if more unfortunate things happen... they would prefer the Carnivoras to be working for them.
