Hello hello, it's me again...

This is not a high priority question of any kind, so please take all the time you want. I was looking at The Black Dove (casino) on the Locations page and potentially wanted to get Dorothea working there, with the overall objective of kind of trying to find high rollers to 1) get info off of in any way possible [including more unsavory things, just not violent ones, etc] and 2) kind of work her magic in trying to curry some measure of favor among the Upper Class for the Augmented, and if #2 doesn't work, 3) get an idea of the Upper Class/government pipeline structure and try to get that info back to other Augmented to make it work for them.

This is a long-term thing I'd like to pursue for Dorothea and I do know we're waiting on the consequences of October's plot (between the Terra/Golem decision and Patho-Gen's stuff) but wanted to kind of get a read on if any of this is possible, if she can even get a job there (it would be as part-time performer/general helper to flex her charm on people at tables/machines), and what kind of people go to said casino in general.

Thank you!
Sorry about the delay on this all the same...

The Black Dove is absolutely a place that is willing to hire Augmented! They'd been willing to do so in some capacity from the start, and nothing too terrible has happened to convince them to change their minds on that. And between Dorothea's skill set, and a present favor towards the Augmented, she could quite readily be taken on.

Gambling is generally seen as more of a lower class activity, though the middle classes also enjoy a good slot machine. Which isn't to say the upper classes never turn up, but it's mostly the idle youth pretending to slum it. And as they're largely the easiest marks, due to their inexperience and frequent (though not universal, some are merely sheltered and naive) arrogance, they might be a good target if Dorothea was after those sorts of contacts. They might not have too much personal influence, but their families do, and they might be encouraged to gossip just to show off....

But almost everyone important in Government is either from the upper class, and certain parts of the upper-middle (very well-to-do tradesmen, people who lack the snoot required to be properly upper class, but who obtained their power in another way). Karteria doesn't have strict nobility, but they have their powerful families- and it's only people from this sort of background, who are sent to the right schools and meet the right people, who have the time and money for a real career in Government.

Although there's elections, it's mostly a trading around of the same sets of people. It's foundationally unfair, but concerned primarily in keeping a kind of status quo intact. It could be worse- as they're not quite corrupt enough to want to run everything into the ground to make a quick numi- but they're also not doing much to take care of the lower classes. It used to be somewhat better when times were better, but after the war and resource scarcity became more pressing, the Government's cuts to services hit the poorest parts of Karteria first.

There's plenty of people who work in the general bureaucracy, and they are overwhelmingly solidly middle class. And while there's some idealistic sorts still in there, committed to improving equality within the system, there's plenty who just want a steady, comfortable job and don't think too much about the greater picture (so the 'Government' as a reputation category is sort of a mix of these upper and middle class demographics). These people are uncommon patrons of casinos, and when they do turn up it's mostly for a show, or a small amount of gambling.
