I think at this stage would it be safe to say that Rowan's had enough time to do a strip down of the Syntrofos and the apps on them. They're specialised towards software specifically as a character, with merits that make computer stuff easier for them, and have their laptop that's built to code on, and plug and play which will allow them to force a connection over the disparate systems. Assuming that's the case, would they find anything of note in the software? They're looking especially into where data is being sent to and how private communications are. I know a lot of the tech has magic at it's core, which obviously they wouldn't be able to replicate, but if it's on the hardware rather than the software, would they be able to start building their own apps? For now just mindless games to put up on the general market as an income source - this is how they make their money at home as well, so they'd have some up their sleeve to re-engineer. Their next target is going to be the network, and specifically again how private again, and how it manages to keep connection over such a wide area, if there's anything of note they might find there? |
While voice and video posts can be made private, text, for some reason, cannot be properly encrypted over the Augmented-specific network. It can be encrypted using the MSG app between Augmented. As for how secure any of the encryption is... it is magical at its core, and it is created by Patho-Gen, so it is likely that if they wanted to, they could access any and all conversations. Though it's somewhat obfuscated, all data does pass through Patho-Gen HQ. Which is not particularly surprising, as that's also where the network's servers are located, the heart of the network itself. There are redundancies and backups, should anything happen to the host server, because Karterians are the sort to actually care about that sort of thing. Two of these backups are also within Patho-Gen owned buildings, within Basileios, and another part of Belle Ville. However, Rowan may be able to find that one of these fail-safe connections doesn't lead to anywhere in the city, but somewhere significantly more Southern. Its end point wouldn't be discernible, but it's definitely not within Karteria's borders. Given their prowess for it, Rowan would certainly be able to make their own applications for the Syntrofos. Though they may not be able to sell their apps directly to the Karterian market, they might be able to find some sort of middleman to connect them to interested buyers. (Similar as to how characters who wished to sell their literary works to the open market could find an intermediary.) |
