Awesome, I love this!! Eli's shitposter era has begun, beware Augmented... As for the computers, I guess I was more wondering what an Augmented character can access if they're really trying to use the full extent of a library computer, despite what it's expected to be used for. It sounds like it varies based on machine and setting, but a library one wouldn't be able to access social media? Would it have something akin to Google for broad access to a ton of information, or just an archaic database of files that one might find in an archive or in the library itself? |
A library computer (or rather, computers in general) wouldn't be able to access social media, unfortunately. How much they do access does depend on where they are- like a library one would have its collections readily searchable (and a fair amount of it digitized- especially magazines and newspapers), but you wouldn't be able to socialize over it. Computers in a laboratory setting would have more sciencey tools, those in an office would have whatever pertained to their job, etc. A library computer would also have access to some more general tools, such as a dictionary/thesaurus function, and anything that might be in a public archive. Building plans, election histories, marriage certificates, those sorts of things. |
