I have a few questions!

I'm planning on apping an OC of mine, how much/little do you want for the history? My thought was to give about as much as a side character from a series with a decently maintained wiki would have, would that be about the right level? Any information it's critical to include?

Regarding deities/arcane influence, this character is from a world where gods are a fact, my intention is to have her entirely lose her powers (water magic and immortality) as they are directly tied to her goddess (who is the goddess of life and matter, as well as earth and water) and her goddess is not from here, does that track or would there be enough.... Interreality bleed-through for her to keep a trickle of her power?

In a related vein, is there anywhere that someone who is deeply religious and utterly baffled by the idea of a society that isn't built around the existence of two (mostly) all powerful goddesses would mistake for a church or temple?

What's the culture like when it comes to handling the dead? Cremation? Burial? Immediate retrieval for scientific study by Patho-gen?

My character can use sign language, is there a local sign language she'd be able to use via the universal translator or is it a spoken and written language only deal?

That amount of history sounds just fine! It doesn't need to be pages and pages, but enough to give a feel for where the character came from, and how they ended up becoming the person they are currently.

With her powers: if you would prefer them to be completely lost, inaccessible, that's entirely justifiable as it is. But if you would prefer her to keep a little of her magic, even at this distance from her goddess- there's also enough to justify that as well. So it's really up to what you would find more interesting to play with.

For buildings mistakably religious... the facades of, oddly enough, some banks, as well as libraries- might come across that way. Banks are ornate, frequently in older, established (and beautiful) buildings, with lobbies dedicated to the worship of commerce. But libraries overall might be the closest bet, as they have a meditative atmosphere, are lovingly looked after, and frequently have places set aside for quiet study, discussion, or debate. There's even features that could conceivably be mistaken for altars or pulpits... even if they're used by people speaking on non-religious topics.

The dead of Karteria are largely buried- though the graveyards that exist with the city limits are growing crowded as the years pass. Cremation used to be a viable alternative, but it actually takes quite a bit of energy to properly burn a body- an energy that had been found through Katalyth. With Katalyth no longer safe to use, cremation is still available, but it's now about as expensive as burial.

People can also choose to donate their bodies to science (or have this fate chosen for them by their relatives). This was... very popular for a time- avoid those pesky funereal costs by shoving the deceased into the loving arms of Patho-Gen!- enough so that they have more bodies than they can effectively do anything with. Patho-Gen now respectfully refuses most donations. Interesting corpses only!

For sign language, there is a local variant, and fluency in it would be a feature included in the universal translation. (As a general note, if a character didn't know any sign language to start with- just as if they were illiterate- the Augmenter's language imparting would be helpless to assist.)
