QuestionText:	As any party wizard should, Gale continues to go around basically casting Detect Magic all over the place. <br><br>This time, he's curious about what kind of magic is at work with the barriers, how they're able to keep the arcane radiation out, and why Katalyth doesn't grow inside them.

AnswerText:	The barriers operate on the same logic (as it is the same magic) as the rest of what Karterians use in their daily lives- only more so. It's <i>dense</i>, absolutely thick with orders, and similar in strength to the amount of energy large deposits of Katalyth give off. Given the amount of arcane radiation in the environment, it presumably takes a lot to power a defense against it. There are a number of pillars around the border of Karteria, and the heaviness of the magic involved is naturally at its highest around them, as these pillars piece the barrier together. Almost half of them are technically redundant, as a failsafe. <br><br>The direction of the magic's orderliness is that of "restriction". That is, a restricting of what is passing through its net, which in this case is the form of energy that is arcane radiation. It controls its passage, by refusing it entry. For the most part.... Trace contamination exists, as even densely-organized spellcraft isn't precise enough to deny every whisper of it. <br><br>Katalyth can't grow on the barrier, because... that would be the antithesis of its function, the opposite of the order it's imposing. Any attempt of a deposit forming would be torn apart and dispersed.
