Do social insect pheromonal class powers work to communicate with normal insects, within a reasonable "level of specificity that pheromones can reasonably convey" and also reasonable range?

Like, can bee Sheryl pheromone it up to lure cockroaches out of one building and get them to follow her into another building? (But without the specificity to tell those cockroaches to do a front handspring, step out, round off, back handspring, step out, round off, back handspring, full twisting layout. And without being able to get every cockroach in the city to follow her.)

Also I assume that Karteria has pretty normal levels of urban insect life, but if I've missed a detail I apologize.

That's a very good question! But yes, social Arthropoda-types can use their pheromones to communicate and 'instruct' normal insects! It would have basically the limitations that you've already suggested, in that it couldn't be used to control the entire city's population of insects at once.

And that they would get quite confused if the instructions grew too complicated, or were too different from the sorts of things they would do normally. (So Sheryl unfortunately couldn't become the star of an acrobatic roach show.)

But she could get them to follow her for at least some distance, and be brought to another building. Hopefully it's not too far, as the longer they have to travel, the harder it is for them (their legs are much smaller than hers!), and a roachswarm would not be viewed well on the trams, even if they were very polite.

But otherwise yes, it's very possible! Arthropoda-types may order around their much smaller kin....

(And Karteria does have the normal spread of urban bugs, however, there has been a marked downturn over the years in terms of numbers. (Cockroaches, as might be expected, are doing okay. They will survive anything.))
