That's a lot of meat, perpetually fresh, right there in the open. Who wouldn't want to take a few bites out of it.... It wouldn't cause him any harm, the meat is genuinely safe even in vast quantities. It is unlikely to taste good to even the most impartial (to those with more delicate stomachs, it might trigger nausea or sickness- not because anything's gone off with the meat, but purely due to flavor/ambiance), but it is harmless. It tastes of "wrong". Different characters would have different ideas of what "wrong" tastes like but it hits all of them. If meat is severed from the wall (and taken away from it so it won't just try and reattach), it will 'die' and begin to rot like any other meat. This happens at the normal rate of decay, so it's not like chopping it off will give someone a slimy mass of rotting muscleeyes immediately.
